Why fans follow the Travers
Often called the Midsummer Derby, the Travers gives fans another chance to compare leading three-year-olds after the spring classics. Horses from the Triple Crown can meet rivals who developed later in the season. It is its own race, rather than a fourth leg of the Triple Crown.
Plan for the full Travers Day card
Travers Day includes several other stakes races. NYRA's edition guide separates admission, first post, the Travers itself and the final race, making it easier to plan a full visit or a shorter viewing session. Reserved seating and general admission offer different experiences; consult the official day guide for special arrangements rather than assuming an ordinary Saratoga day.
