Know the race
Derby Week includes several race days at Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Oaks has its own Friday card, while the Kentucky Derby is the feature on Saturday. A Derby-day ticket and a reservation for another day are different purchases. Check the day and seating area on the official ticket before arranging your visit.
The first race starts the day's card; the Derby takes place later. Gates can open earlier still. Use the named race's post time to plan a short viewing session, and the broadcaster's start and end times if you want the build-up. After the race, look for the final result and a replay for that exact edition.
Louisville's official visitor guide lists May 1, 2027. The race-day panel below is labelled separately if it still shows the 2026 edition.
No. They have separate racecards on consecutive days at Churchill Downs. Open the Oaks guide for the Friday feature.
